At the end of July in Pobierowo an annual tug-of-war at night tournament  took place. One of the attractions of the tournament was the show of Grezgorz Nowak form Gdynia who has been called the strongest Pole in armwtrestling for 2 years. Grzegorz’s show was unfortunately  limited to few fights with people chosen from the audience and giving out autographs but the memories of that event are really amazing. The ones who expected to enjoy themselves on Friday evening for sure were not disappointed if they had come to Grunwaldzka Street in Pobierowo where the tournaments in tug-of-war took place for the 8th time. Traditionally, the beginning of the event was the Power Show, which main actors were Sławomir Toczek and Jarosław Dymek - well known Polish armwrestlers and a comperer Irek Bieleninik. And Irek was the one who was becoming more and more dominant on the battle field while telling jokes and digging at every one.

However he did that with charm and sense, causing the audience to burst their sides with laughter and the ones who were driven in the proverbial pin also began to smile (for what he was finally thrown with the cake like in a scene taken out of Charlie Chaplin’s films alive). According to the regulations, eight mix teams took part in the tug-of-war competitions which were the main pretext of the event. The first starts enabled to assume that the main fight will take place between the two teams: Pensjonat H²O (a former owner of the Tavern), who has already triumphed in the tournaments five times, and the Spinnaker Restaurant’s team (called Tavern last year). And that’s how it happened – in the final clash two above mentioned teams, that left their opponents dead duck met. In the direct confrontation the scale of win was tipped by more experienced H²O team, confirming that they really deserve all the six titles of the Polish champions of the tug-of-war. The Friday even was ended with the tight hit of Night Crawlers band, who served the audience a mixture of the hard rock standards.
