The real surprise at this year’s Nemiroff World Cup – Sopot 2010 may the start of a Russian competitor from Saint Petersburg - Dzambulat Corijev. This Russian competitor declared his start at up to 95kg class at Sopot World Armwrestling Professionals’ Cup as well for left as right hand. Although as he says himself: “my left hand is stronger than the right one, but I would like to repeat my success form 2005 when I ranked 1st on the podium for right hand.
We would like to remind everyone that John Brzenk who weighted 104kg then fought at +95kg class. A year later – in 2006 John started at up to 95kg class.
Dzambulat Corijev did not manage to beat John in the direct confrontation and finally ranked second (John Brzenk was 1st of course).
“Then it was really taught to compete with John Brzenk. However this year breakthrough may occur as I feel great in left hand rivalry andof yet I can see no competition for me in my class” – said Dzambulat Corijev.
So after two years break the Russian competitor comes back to the armwrestling international arena in a new form. Unfortunately we could not have seen him at this year’s European Championships – Russia 2010 as he was preparing to Nemiroff World Cup. And as we consider his earlier good starts we may expect him to create some confusion in medal zone of up to 95kg class.
