It’s obvious that the Poles are spreaded all over the world. However I did not expected to meet a Pole in the Swiss team of armwrestlers. But I did! He was Jakub Nakielski. What’s interesting, Jakub got to know what Armwrestling is in Switzerland. Our Swiss Liaison Officer is a little over forty. He was born and lived in Krasnik. He played ball, but only unprofessionally, he was running a little bit and that’s all. At a moment he started to travel to Switzerland to work. Six years ago he settled in that beautiful country. From a colleague from work he got to know of our sports discipline. He tried himself in unprofessional tournaments, then he set about training. He became a national champion among amateurs – 75kg.

He took part first in the tournaments within the country, then across the border. Inter alia at Gladiator Night, organized by a famous Pascal Girard. Now, in Gdansk he is debuting in the European Championships as a master. The Club he trains in is called Black Panthers Soloturn. How does our sport look like in Switzerland? I had to ask about is. Jakub said that it’s not a popular sport and it’s hard to hear about it in media. Swiss player treat is as a hobby. At our tournaments they appeared with their children, they are happy and laid-back.
