What type of injury is magnetic field used for? ()
It’s been known for a long time that a magnetic field influences the human body. It activates the molecules, widens the blood vessels, thus intensifying blood flow, quickens the cellular metabolism, lowers blood coagulation, facilitates oxygen intake and lowers pain levels.
Electromagnetic field has three parameters: induction, frequency and intensity of electric field. That’s what makes some fields dangerous to man and some – with frequency lower than 50 Hz, therapeutic. The factor that decides on the effect of therapy is finding the right frequency.
Various works on magnetic field therapy shows its beneficial influence on many ailments. It’s been demonstrated that a low-frequency magnetic field (20 – 40 Hz) triggers a natural anesthetic cascade in the nervous system, due to heightened beta-endorphins production. Their condensation grows after magnetic-field therapy, allowing the patient to function without pain, with more mobility and lowered need for external painkillers. Fluctuating magnetic field quickens bone tissue healing and is used with breaks and pseudoarthrosis. It’s also beneficial in wound healing, especially with difficult post-operative wounds.
This type of therapy is also used in therapy of torn tendons, ligaments, damaged joint capsules or post-traumatic hematomas.
Conventional medicine uses two types of magnetic field generators – stationary and mobile. The two kinds have different functions. When large-radius field is necessary, the stationery type comes into play. The mobile type creates a field of very limited radius. In any case, it’s necessary that any procedures be performed by trained staff.
