This year’s A1 OPEN is full of stars # Armwrestling # Armpower.net

John Brzenk, Todd Hutchings and Dave Chaffey confirmed their starts in A1. The whole armwrestling world is watching now. ()

The legend of armwrestling – John Brzenk will fight in A1 for the first time, the tournament where the strongest men from all over the world will meet in the up to 100 kg category and the OPEN.

The main favorite of the contest is Denis Tsyplenkov, who’s certain of becoming the leader in his category. John himself doesn’t want to make any predictions, he just wants to do his best. Brzenk will note be alone, he is coming with his friend, Todd Hutchings, who will enter the up to 90 kg category and OPEN. Tsyplenkov doesn’t know how dangerous Hutchings is, he;s never fought him before.

Dave Chaffee, also from USA, will come too, to erase all doubt as to his person resulting from the Nemiroff 2013; FYI – he’s beaten Tsyplenkov at that event. Before that Chaffee was a “dark horse” of armwrestling, but today many think he’s the strongest.

Only an arm fight can decide this once and for all – says Tsyplenkov. – There will be many strong guys on A1. But I hope we can get to the finals with minimum strain, to show our maximum power in the final bouts.

Dave himself says that he cannot wait to meet Tsyplenkov again. At the same time he’s not underestimating any of the other contestants, he’s ready to give anyone his all. He also thinks that his fellow countrymen will put on quite a show.

Brzenk and Hutchings are incredible sportsmen – says Chaffee. – They both have a chance to win. I think John might be back on top again.

Also planning to join the all-star team is Taras Ivakin, who’s back in the game after becoming the Champion of Ukraine. But starting in a Russian tournament when you’re serving in the Ukrainian army, with the present political situation, might be near impossible.

Artem Taynov and Vadim Akperov will do their best in their weight categories, and in the OPEN. Recently Artem has beaten Alexey Semerenko in the first 7 rounds (3 for left, 4 for right). He’s also shown great fights in OPEN during the Russian Championships, especially in his fight with Dzambolat Tsoriev.

There’s no point in further calling out of the names – almost everyone on this tournament’s list is a potential winner. One thing is certain, though – there are no random people in A1.
