New era in armwrestling? Slovaks are preparing to organize a first international team tournament.

- Presently, most tournaments are played in the solo formula – says Marian Capla, vice-president of EAF and president of SAPR. – Many sports have team tournaments, which draw bigger media attention. We in Slovakia started organizing team tournaments in 1994, and this year we had the 20th National Team Championships. We were the first in the world to organize team matches, in 2000 in the Czech Republic. Now it’s time for the first international team championships.

There are two options to play the tournament – for mixed teams (men and women), and male teams only.

The team limit is 8 people, because of time restrictions, so the organizers ask you to for the quickest possible contact about the option – A or B.

- I believe that in the future the TEAM tournaments will become a new discipline in our game – says Capla. – This year the tournament will be a part of the Sport Festival (an event for all non-Olympic sports) in Trencin. We are working on professional atmosphere, live TV broadcast, etc. We will inform you of all developments.

The first team championships will take place on the 29th November 2014, at the Expo Center Plac Trencín, Pod Sokolicami 43, Slovakia.

International TEAM Tournament – rules and regulations.

TEAM – Group of pullers representing one country (proved by documents) consists of 6 men and 3 women according tournament weight classes.

MATCH – Match between two TEAMs based on the scoresheed, MATCH consists of CLASS FIGHTs in all weight classes.

CLASS FIGHT – consists of three FIGHTS in particular weight class (if needed); puller who wins more FIGHTs win the CLASS FIGHT (score can be 2:0 or 2:1 – see also explanation pages). TEAM gets two points for each CLASS FIGHT win.

WINNER of the MATCH – TEAM who win more points in particular MATCH

Option A - Weight Classes – right hand only:

Men: 63, 70, 78, 86, 95, 95+ kg Women: 60, 70, 70+ kg

Option B – Weight Classes – MEN right hand only:

Men: 70, 78, 86, 95, 95+ kg

Registration and weigh in: 29.11.2014, 8:00 – 09:30, Trenčín EXPO CENTER, Slovakia

First round starts: 09:00

FINALS: 15:00

Entry fee: 30,- EUR/puller

Awards: Trophies and money prizes for first three TEAMs (1st. – 1000 EUR, 2nd. – 600 EUR, 3rd – 300 EUR) – only if OPTION A will be choosed.
