Ukrainian team member, Mher Musaleyan, on himself and amateur armwrestling. ()
Master of Sports international class, Mher Musaelyan, took the podium twice this year, winning silver and bronze.
Preparations were hard – says Mher. – I’ve noticed that my right arm was slightly better than the left, and the closer the tournament, the bigger the imbalance grew. And on top of that, my left arm was injured. I didn’t expect full force from it.
Mher is exceptional not only because of his strength, but also because he thinks at the table. This is a luxury, not every sportsman can combine power and intelligence.
The strongest people from all over the world came to the championships – says Mher. – The favorites in my category were Prudnik, Cherski, Lengarov and Dimitrov. I was well prepared and won every fight with ease. I hope I’m not hurting anyone by saying that.
Unfortunately, Mher didn’t get to the highest step of the podium. But that only motivates him further.
I took 3rd in left arm, 2nd in right – says Mher. – I’m satisfied with those scores, the minimum has been reached, I got two medal at World Championships. And I got bronze with my injured arm, and the final fight with Prudnik meant more than anything to me, because beating Gene is impossible at this point.
Everything is possible – this is Mher’s motivation for now. Looking back, he recalls not only triumphs, but also failures.
There were many great events at the championships, good fights and new faces.
There was a war in every category – recalls Mher. – It was great to watch the 75 kg category. Sasho Anreev was a great surprise to many. I’m impressed with the fights with Evgenyi Prudnik.
In the future, Mher plans to fight in the Lotoshino tournament, and then in the Ukrainian Championships, Europeans and the Worlds. And of course, he will fight in A1. And he will test himself, and his opponents.
