At the last European Championships, Alexander showed far the best performance, but it had its reasons:

"European Championship in 2016 was not the best way for me. I can say that at the European Championships I was not very tired physically. But I came not quite recovered. Recently, I have a fairly complex and busy schedule of life. It is because of the basic work and home affairs, plus to all – this work with the federation (Alexander is the president of the regional federation). In all this confusion, I need to devote time to training and preparation. At the European Championships I was ready physically, but I did not come restored and rested from all other concerns, and the road to Europe was exhausting with the lack of opportunities to recover. Before the fight I felt weakness, body demanded a rest. All this led to the fact that it was not possible to perform the way I wanted".

Despite the difficulties, Alexander was preparing for the World Championship, and he will fight. Alexander has made changes in the training process and will try to show the good form:

"I was trying to spend more time preparing for the World Championship, this also applies to training and recovery. I changed the plan of preparation and I hope that I will feel better. The main thing that the old injuries will not come back, then I can perform well. In my preparations workout with the iron prevails, it’s hard to sparring. In the gym I am the only armwrestler.

I try to set aside time and occasionally travel to other gyms for sparring".

Alexander will traditionally pull in 60 kg category. He has great experience in it, and he can accurately describe his category. In his opinion, the category of 60 kg is the most difficult category, and he may explain why:

"My category at the moment is the most difficult of all. This can be verified by comparing it with the other. In this category is probably the largest number of champions of Europe and the world. When half of the category once was in the prize three, it shows the highest level of competition. Already in Europe, it was clear that the category is very serious, and now Asia is added. These are two very strong athlete from Kazakhstan and a good guy from Japan. The representatives of Georgia, Russia, Bulgaria, Germany, Armenia, and Spain – are world and European champions. If people, who were runners-up of the world, do not get even in the top 10 on Europe, it says a lot. In general, the category is very difficult".

Alexander took part in professional tournaments. He was the winner of the World Tur Cup among professionals. This year he did not exclude the possibility to pull at Zloty Tour:

"Zloty Tur is a good tournament, which has very strong structure. I can not say anything about the participation this year yet, because all depends on the world championship. But of course I would like to take part there, I have long been there. But Worlds will decide everything".
