Fia, tell please about your armwrestling experience?

– I was only 7 years when I was introduced to the sport together with my father, brother, my two uncles, and cousins in my home village Ensamheten (the solitude). It was more like a big game for us, kids, where we could meet and play around. But we got our own table made from a sit-down table. And we participated in small competitions. I think I started to like the sport from start just by listening to the excitement about it by the grownups.

How do you feel in 65 kg? Are you pleasured with your results?

– This is the second year I’m in 65 kg, it was just time for it, I can't any longer go down to 60 kg.

Yes, I’m very pleased with the results. I’m not very happy about being food poisoned before the semifinal in left, but I don’t think I could change the result anyway.

How do you think, who was your toughest rival? Who surprised you the most?

– Before the competition I thought my toughest opponent would be Irina Gladkaya, Ekaterina Nikisheva, Olga Shlizhevskaya. I have never competed against Ekaterina before so I was a little bit excited about that.

I was mostly surprised about myself.

Swedish team is really closely-knitted. Do you think it helped you to win?

– Yes, I think the support from my team really helped me winning.

What is your favorite pulling style?

– I’m a straight across puller or else I’m a top roller. I think you could be able to manage other techniques but to focus on where you are the strongest.

How do you think, is it really actual for armwrestling to divide the sport for amateur and professional?

– I’m not a fan of letting real amateurs participate in any competition before they got a good technique. I have seen too much arms break.

Will you take part at Zloty Tur this year?

– I’m not sure about Zloty yet...

It would be nice to see Fia’s fights at Zloty Tur because her strength and skills could make the show more entertaining.
