The 10th Polish Armwrestling Cup - Fit Max Cup 2009 is coming. It is the second largest (just after the annual Polish Championships) national event with the participation of the leading Polish armwrestlers. On the 27th and 28th of Novebmer 2009 almost 200 best Polish armwrestlers will appear in a sports-spectacular hall at Olimpijczyków Starogardzkich 1 Street in Starogard Gdański

The Polish Armwrestling Federation has been the organizer of the most prestige tournaments of this discipline since 2000. For the 10th time, this time together with OSiR in Starogard Gdański and under the patronage of District Country and Starogard Gdański City Council they, are organizing Polish Armwrestling Cup.

Only the competitors associated in clubs, so the sports men having the competitor licence of Polish Armwrestling Federation can take part at the tournaments. At the end of November the leading Polish armwrestlers are going to come to Starogard Gdański to fight off on the international field. So the sports level will be really high.

“Today the sports level of Polish armwrestlers varies from the one presented years ago. Almost all of the competitors spend months on preparations before they start at such a major even as the Polish Cup. Among Polish armwrestlers there are many competitors who present the world top standard. They are medallists  of the European and World Championships, the Professional League,  the World Professional Cup and other international tournaments. A lot has changed during 10 years of organizing of the Polish Cup. Although there is a lot to do to improve the Polish Armwrestling, I am proud of our competitors and the sports progress today. Polish National Team forms the competitors lead at each of the world tournaments. Not one of national teams were repeatedly surprised with the high level of preparation of Polish competitors.  In last 10 years competitors themselves as well as Polish activists did a lot for world Armwrestling. And that is noticed by everyone” – said the President of FAP - Igor Mazurenko.

During two days of rivalry (the 27th of November 2009 – right hand struggles, the 28th of November 2009 – left hand struggles) the competitors will tackle in 25 weigh classes of left hand and 25 weigh classes of right hand, including juniors (competitors up to 18 years old), seniors (competitors over 18 years old), masters (competitors over 40 years old) and disable people.

Similarly as previous years, also this year the winners of right and left hand, women and men Open class will be inscribed as the strongest Poles of 2009 for hand into the Polish Records and Oddities  Book. Among women the strongest defender of the title of the strongest Pole for left hand is Małgorzata Ostrowska from Strzegom. Whereas Marlena Wawrzyniak from Grudziądz is the defender for right hand. Among men right hand the strongest of last year appeared to be 19 years old competitor from Gdynia - Grzegorz Nowak, whereas Lucjan Fudała from Jaworzo will be defending the title for left hand.

„There are two favourites among women Open class rivalry: Marlena Wawrzyniak and Małgorzata Ostrowska. At the moment they are probably the strongest Pole of the discipline”- said the promoter of Polish Armwrestling - Paweł Podlewski.


„However in men rivalry of Open class everything can happen. Here, on the Polish armwrestling stage we have many strong and experienced competitors. Last year’s medallists of Polish Cup and medallists of many international, which took place in this year’s armwrestling calendar will contend for the first place for sure. I can see such names as: the silver medallists of Nemiroff World Cup 2009 left hand up to 95kg class -   Dariusz Muszczak from Myszkowów, the brown medallist of Nemiroff World Cup 2009 right hand 95kg class - Grzegorz Nowak from Gdynia, the brown medalist of the World Championships Italy 2009 +110kg class  – Sławomir Głowacki from Inowrocław and the gold medallist of  Nemiroff World Cup 2008 left hand up to 95kg class - Lucjan Fudała from Jaworzno, on the podium of their weight classes and open class.
