Recently I’ve received a slew of reader e-mails concerning the betterment of armpower.net. Various ideas are being promoted, including internet radio broadcast, multimedia, movies and photos. However banal it seems, I’ve still decided to subject this to public discussion.

Radio is very popular in the USA. Thanks to radio broadcasts many people can follow the latest news and entertainment. Magazines, papers and other published forms form an online global news network, used by most of the world. Movies and television are also very popular. How would armwrestling fans prefer to get their news?

Oksana, 34 years old, university teacher, wife of armwrestler:
All three forms of broadcasting news are important, although I prefer text. Video forces you to focus on the pictures, audio on the sounds. Only text gives you peace. Visualization comes from imagination, hence information is better absorbed, and unclear text can always be reread.

Innakientij, 38 yrs old, hardware store clerk, armwrestler:
I cannot say I have any particular preference. I like to read and watch TV, I also sometimes listen to the radio. These media are intertwined, complementary, interesting singularly and en masse. As for armwrestling, I prefer video. Recently there have been a lot of major armwrestling events broadcasts. It’s all very well, but I’d also like to see smaller events broadcast along the big ones.

Audio is a thing of the past, I reject it instantly.

It’s only useful in a car. Text is an archaic form of broadcast. It’s useful when the picture is unclear and the commentator hyperactive. In this case subtitles are very useful. But still, video comes first for me, before unclear sound and text. A great example would be training tutorials, hard to put into words and to explain when you don’t have much experience. Video is best applicable to most forms of information.

Text, video, audio – my TOP list, best to worst. No explanation is needed here, it’s self-explanatory.

Olesya, 19 yrs old, freelancer, armwrestling newbie:
I love to watch and read, I don’t like to listen. Choosing between text and video, I’d go with the second option. Although I work with text a lot, in my free time I prefer to watch videos. It’s more comfortable to watch and listen to someone speak.

Andrew, 43 yrs old, businessman, tried armwrestling in the past:
No offence, but if you’re dumb – watch videos, everything’s clear in a video. If you have any brains at all, listen to audios, there’s very little strain in that. If you’re real smart though, read. And always remember that every information has an author, part of whom is in the text. You don’t need to agree with the author, think about what you read. Read from different sources, take information, not the bias, even if the author is a star! Information can be a weapon of deceit against opponents, remember that!
