ARMWRESTLING TECHNIQUES. DIFFERENT PHASES OF HOOK. INWARD HOOK. ()
Below you will find one of proper ways to fight with hook.
What is hook? In standing position, after “ready, go!” command, the attacker twists their wrist inwards – towards their own body. When using this technique, the fighter needs special preparation, and advantage in hook is usually with fighters who have strong fingers, wrists and elbow ligaments.
Many fighters, when approaching the table for the first time, need to analyze their conditions: genetic and anatomical possibilities. It’s a mistake to perform this technique without special preparations. I’d like to point out that, when fighting in hook, forces may appear great enough to tear elbow ligaments, fastening muscle, and even break bones.
Below you will find one of proper techniques for fighting with hook.
INWARD HOOK ATTACK
Before “ready, go!” the left-side opponent places his elbow in the front part of the elbow pad. In case of his opponent having the shorter forearm, the elbow needs to be placed in the middle part of the elbow pad.
The left-side opponent grabs the other fighter’s palm with his index finger knuckle placed higher that the opponent’s index finger. In this technique, the opponent’s thumb doesn’t have to be folded under his fingers.
After „ready, go!” quickly pull with your wrist to the side and inwards, extending the angle between opponent’s arm and forearm.
The elbow of the fighter in yellow t-shirt should be located as close as possible to the front edge of the pad. After “ready, go!” slide the elbow in a straight line inwards, using the pad.
In the next article we will present inward sideways hook.
