PeSzy: Hi Illia, how are you? In Poland we now have a total ban on sporting events. Clubs are closed. The same is or will be in other countries. That is why most athletes only have at their disposal an apartment, a garden near the house, in the best position, small equipment. What should they do?
Illia Izman: Hi PeSzy. It's a hard time for all of us. Not only in Poland, but around the world there are a number of restrictions on the functioning of the gym. Ukraine is no exception. Now the most important thing for anyone in the current quarantine situation and recommended insulation is to stay at home. This is the most important contribution to future victories for every athlete of our time.
PeSzy: How to change the order of the training cycle? In the end - it will end sometime, maybe some competitions will take place in May?
Illia Izman: When it comes to building a training cycle: remember that alternating cycle changes (power cycle / endurance / regeneration) will always be effective, regardless of the bans. It is difficult to measure the degree of load if you only work with tapes or rubbers. If you have weights that you are aware of, don't forget to build a split workout based on light, medium and heavy workouts. In this case, you can track your progress. Regarding rubber bands: you can increase the load in three ways. First of all: if you use two loops at the same time. Alternating workouts with one rubber loop and two loops, you can dose the weight. Second: you can easily use a stiff and soft loop alternately. Third method: distance to the place of attachment of the rubber loops. In this case, you should track the distance you are exercising.
As for the competition in May - I'm not so optimistic - considering the relocation of the Olympic Games and other sporting events.
PeSzy: You are young, so of course you didn't have a similar situation in your life, but - what do you hear from the elderly, athletes, trainers?
Illia Izman: I'm 36 years old. I consist of water, blood, bones and a small amount of brain tissue - like all people on Earth. All who consider themselves terrestrials are at risk of infection. Absolutely everyone worries. Adults, people over the age of 60, worry no less than others, and maybe even more. I hear that people around me are calling for calmness and compliance with security measures.
PeSzy: How are you in this situation? Do you have access to a gym?
Illia Izman: I don't have access to the gym.
