Armwrestlers are summing up the passing year 2012. What were their successes and failures? Let’s see. ()
Kazimir Hi! How would you sum up this year?
Kazimir Iskandarov: Hello readers of armpower.net, Hello Piotr! The year 2012 was successful for me. Well, I didn’t go to the European Championships, because I was taking part in the Nord Kavkaz Championship (Championship of the North Caucasus), but right after that I started to prepare for the World Championships in Brazil. At the end of September I competed in an international tournament, "ARM Massacre", and won in the class of up to 80 kg, and - more importantly – took first place in the open class!
After that I went to Brazil for the World Championships.Adventures with weight!
Having arrived to Brazil I checked my weight and found out that I weighed 3 kilos more than I was supposed to. The scales showed 78 kg, and I wanted to compete in the category of up to 75 kg. I began to get my weight down and spent the whole day in the sauna. I had a good company - Marlena Wawrzyniak was also there. In the end I went to check my weight again and this time the scales showed 76,100 kg. So I had to run around the building in a track suit. I checked again and the scales would indicate 75,600 but the check time had passed. There was no other way - I had to enter myself for the category of 80 kg.
After all I’m satisfied with my results at the Championships. I was fifth on the left hand. I was defeated by: Stefan Lengarov from Bulgaria and Timur Mamedov from Russia. On the right hand I won the bronze medal - I lost only to Zoloevem and Mamedov.
I got over the tournament in Brazil and began serious preparations for the Nemiroff World Cup 2012.
The fans could see the effects. Without getting down the weight I fitted into the class of 78 kg. I treated each and every opponent seriously and there were many strong competitors.
In particular, it was hard for me to fight with Onder Dursum from Turkey - right hand and with Mantas Asmonas – left hand. I am very surprised by Raphael Wozny, who without any defeat came to fight with me on the right hand.I was really happy about Marlena Wawrzyniak’s success. I know she worked very hard to get her first gold at the Nemiroff.
When it comes to other competitors, I was impressed by: Ievgenii Prudnyk, Krasimir Kostatinov, Vladimir Mnatsakanyan and Murat Kariev.
And of course, I liked very much when Zoloev beat Todd Hutchings.
Who is the strongest?
Now, who is the strongest ... I think that the title of “The strongest" belongs to Cyplenkov. But there is one issue. The issue of his absence at the most important tournament - Nemiroff. Among the absent were also Larratta, Lupkesa and Ron Bath.
Only when they all take part in the same tournament, in the open category – it will be possible to say who is “The strongest”.
For the time being, Pushkar remains the winner at NEMIROFF. However, Denis’s and Andrey’s victory during A1 doesn’t raise any doubts.
My opinion about the Nemiroff?
Overall, the Professional World Cup is for me the best tournament, I’ve already won at NEMIROFF three times and I’m going to compete in future.
When it comes to the organization of the event I just can’t find words to say how much I liked it. And if you compare Nemiroff with the World Championships in Brazil with its poor organization, there’s nothing else to say. Taking part in the World Cup is pure pleasure, beauty, emotions. Great fights, especially in the semi-finals and finals.
I really appreciate the fact that I could take part in the tournament. Piotr, give my thanks and congratulations to everyone from the Team, who worked before and during the competition, in particular to Igor Mazurenko.
Thank you Piotr for your coverage and articles. I’ll see you at EuroArm 2013. Best regards to the fans!
Thank you on behalf of the fans and readers. We wish you all the best in the New Year!
