How will Sweden do in September 2013 in Gdynia?
The head of the Swedish armwrestling Anders Axklo announces:
Sweden bringing record team to the Championships!
As one of the first teams to register its team for the championships, Sweden is bringing 69 individual athletes to the championships. Adding supporters, family members and officials the Swedish delegation may well exceed a 100 people. The president of the Swedish Armwrestling federation comments on this.
-We are very proud of our athletes, and the dedication and love they have for the sport. No Swedish athlete receives any financial support what so ever, but must pay every single expense out of their own pocket. Not only for the actual championships, but earlier this year for the Nationals as well, which is the sole way of making the Swedish team. Nor do those who win titles or medals receive any financial reward. In Sweden we armwrestle for the fun, and win for the glory, nothing else. We expect to bring quite a bit of glory with us home, not only in the women’s division, but also in the men’s, and definitely in the masters and juniors. We will see you in Poland!
