Is it correct if referee makes admonition to the athlete who, because of the opponent’s palm inconvenience or otherwise, takes the elbow off the elbow-pad to get a better grip and gain an advantage in the starting position? The opponent doesn’t takes off his elbow.

Answer: Their is nothing in the rules that says you must put your elbow down before taking a grip, nor does it say that you if you are not happy with the grip you cannot pull out and re grip, but the grip must be within the rules so they should not have any large advantage. However if the referee thinks one competitor is wasting time they should give them a warning. The problem is there are good grips and bad grips but both can be within the rules, and the referee is only allowed to get the competitors a grip that meets the rules they cannot determine on good or bad, just the rules, so it is up to the competitor to make sure they have a good grip. Their are several ways to get a good grip but if you are not happy with your grip it is better to go to a referees grip that will normally sort most of the problems out.

In what situation when wrestling in straps referee sets the capture, alternately closing athletes’ fingers on command.

Answer: When putting the strap on the only time a referee should be closing fingers is in the referee grip.

In what situation some athletes after a strap was tightened are struggling for grip, and whether you can take your elbows off during the struggle for grip in straps?

Answer.  I refer you to my answer for question 1 it is the same in the straps.

When the slip off was not preceded by referee grip, we were tied up, I took an opponent in uncomfortable manner for him, he took his elbow off and appealed to the referee that it was an inconvenient grip and the referee has opened our fingers and established a referee grip. I didn’t violate any rules, did not take off my elbow, did not move fingers. At the World Championship in Gdynia in the same situation my opponent from Italy felt very uncomfortable, he also appealed but the referee did not react on his request.

Answer.  The referee only has 30 seconds to set you up so at this point the referee had decided that the time was up and went to the referees grip, and in Gdynia the referee must have been happy with the grip and that their was enough time left for a normal start.

During World Championship in Gdynia during the referee’s grip launch, or referee’s grip with a strap, do not remember exactly, assistant referee had put his hands on the elbow-pads, thus leaving only that part of elbow-pad which is near the long table edge. Is it an obligatory procedure?

Answer. Yes this is correct when applying the strap the referee should make the competitors put their elbows to the back of the pad, their can be some tolerance in this if the competitors have short arms.
