“Georgian Hulk” Levan Saginashvili arrived at the WAF World Armwrestling Championship in Antalya, Turkey. The multiple world and European champion, the future participant of the historic Vendetta All Stars in November, will test his strength at the No. 1 amateur tournament in the 110+ weight category. Levan told us about his plans for the 2018 World Cup. ()
Levan, please tell us about your successes and what are you doing at the WAF World Armwrestling Championship?
In my plans for 2018, there was to take part in the European Championship, WAF World Armwrestling Championship and, of course, in the main professional event - Vendetta All Stars 50 in Rumia, Poland.
Everything goes according to plan.
Will you pull at the WAF Worlds?
Yes, in the heavyweight category of 110+ kg on the left and right hand. There are about 25 people in my category, 7 of whom are World Champions. Opponents are very serious. There will be Arif Ertem from Turkey, Matyushenko from Russia, as well as Farid Usmanov, Rezo Lutidze from Georgia and others. Very worthy rivals, it will definitely not be easy.
I hope to win.
You came along with your student who pulls at the disabled class. How is his success?
Giga Ochkhikidze has been engaged in armwrestling for only three months, however, he managed to take third place on the right hand and fourth place on the left. I think he had every chance of becoming the third on the left as well, but failed so far. He completed his maximum task and I am very satisfied. We came to gain experience, estimate the level and understand what we should strive for. Now we will prepare for the Disabled World Cup at Zloty Tur.
Levan, have you already watched the latest Armbets News episode, where Ahmed Aliyev called your technique primitive?
What would you answer to this?
I would say: everything primitive is often genius!
